We Almost Left!
We got up this morning at 5:30 am and started the coffee - and have been on the go every since. But we haven't gone!
T hooked the car to the back of the motorhome and I loaded a few last minute things, including our cat, and when we tested the lights and the brakes, we found the left turn signal wasn't working on the car (well, actually, it works on the car until the car is connected to the motorhome, when it no longer works). After our guy showed up to blow all our water lines out, poor T worked on the lights for a couple hours. The problem was finally found - but the solution requires a trip to the motorhome store for a part.
We did shut everything off and close up the house. We drove through the gate above, and put the lock and chain on it. Now we are sitting down in the valley at a garage a friend owns. T had to unhook the car and now he's off to the mororhome-store to find a card part. I'm sitting in the motorhome in the parking lot (it's in a rural area), just chilling out with my cat. I've checked my emails and now I'll look at some blogs - I LOVE our wireless internet!
When T returns and gets us repaired - we're going to decide what we want to do. As it's nearly 1:oo p.m. our time, we will probably spend the night parked right here and just take off in the morning. Sister Caryl says if we end up staying the night, she'll come pick us up and treat us to dinner - what a deal. Hopefully tomorrow, we'll be spending the night in Big Sky Country.

Well, what's one day more or less in a 6 month itinerary? It is good the first mishap was close to home and all the parts stores you already know. I hope nothing worse happens for your full 6 months.
How does Miss Kitty like traveling? Is she okay when the house rolls?
I hate when these little annoyances delay my plans. You're so calm about it, I'd be swearing like a trucker and behaving like a spoiled brat. Pap wouldn't mind, my bad behavior amuses him!
Gee Jackie, you remind me of a certain Quilldancer who got so hooked to the whole blogging thing that she spilt gravy all over her keyboard. :)
Quilly-Sister - EXACTLY what I said to T - 'if this is the worst that befalls us, how lucky we are'!
Miss Kitty is really not too sure about what is going on and whether or not she likes it....might be a really long trip!
Kat - the roles are reversed at our house. T does the swearing and gets upset...he's more use to making a plan, sticking to it, etc. etc. I fly by the seat of my pants and just KNOW that things will turn out alright, and the way they are suppose to. (Besides, all the swearing in the world doesn't change a damned thing!) LOL
Jenn, I can see how that could happen! Today I was eating my cottage cheese and fruit while I was on the blog. Now for God's sake, you would think one could stop and eat! It is a little addictive - and that's a little scary. LOL
Jackie, I am one of the most flexible people I know and am very adaptable to having my plans change at a moments notice. Suppose that has anything to do with our up bringing?
The winters of my childhood were very stable -- but summers might find me anywhere; with Dad, with Aunt Flo, with Caryl; with Jean; with you; at camp; then when I went to live with Dad, ever summer was a different mountain and/or logging camp.
You suppose that's why I get bored when things stay the same too long?
So, where did Caryl take you for dinner? Anywhere I know? And how does it feel to be sleeping in the motorhome just a few miles from home?
What wireless internet connection do you have? Is it fast? How does it compare to what you have at home? Thanks for the info!!
Quilly-Sister, I so think that the childhood experiences help in that area. As does NOT being an engineer! LOL
We went to LongHorn BBQ for dinner and I ate way too much! T and Caryl both love it there and I was up for anything I didn't have to cook, so it worked out well. C's on her way home now - some show starting at 8 she wants to watch.
Sleeping down here isn't bad - I asked Phil if he had weekly rates! The sweetie hooked us up to the electric, so I even have my blanket! Caryl ask if we wanted to come over and camp in front of her house again this year. Last year we were ready to leave the house and the guy didn't show up to blow the pipes out. We brought the motorhome down to Caryl's and tried to call him - T was just going to drive the car up and meet him as T had already drained the water and shut the electricity off.
Well, we couldn't get the guy to answer our calls - and couldn't find anyone else who hadn't already drained the diesel out of their generators so they wouldn't gel up in the freezing weather - so we ended up camping in front of Caryl's house for 2 days and nights. Not fun as it was December and there was snow on the ground and we wanted GONE. So a night in October is nothing.
Hi Just Curious...
We have a Cingular Wireless Card. We got a heck of a deal on it over a year ago - $150.00 for the card, with $150.00 rebate. Can't beat that. It's faster than dial up, but not as fast as broadband. We also have Cingular for our cell service, and they told us we'd be able to use our internet wireless anywhere we have cell service. It's been great. I love going down the freeway and being able to pull up info. T put an external antenna on it, too, so there are very few places we don't have service. They say it's $59.99 a month - but with all the taxes, is over $69. And this IS what we have at home. We use it year round now. Where we live, you can only get dial up, and it is REALLY slow, so when we got this we dropped our AOL dial up account and just use this. We're really happy with it.
Thanks, Cindra. We'll definitely stop in lil' Skye country too, but it will be on the trip home. She was so cute on the phone last night, I can't believe how smart she is! When I tell 'Grandpa' that, he says it isn't any wonder, because you work with/play with her all the time. And you know what, your momma thinks you are an awesomne momma! I heart you, too.
So you WILL be able to blog from the road. I'm so glad to hear that and will look forward to your updates. Have a great trip, Jackie.
So you're off now! Have a great time. Will you keep us posted on great garden finds and other stuff from the road? Nice to find another WA blog, but now I'll have to wait till spring for more WA gardening. Enjoy!
VS - thanks! I'll get by there to read you when I can, too.
P'sG - Welcome, thanks for visiting. I'm off to visit your garden now!
